April showers bring Bockenplautz flowers?

Ah, spring... the time in a middle aged man's life when his fancies turn to superior acoustic powerpop.

Luckily for you, we've got just the fix!

We've had a busy late-winter with the band with some great shows, and this upcoming gig is the culmination of some hard work and awesome energy from the group. It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock in roll, or so it is said.

This Saturday night- April 12 - we play at our favorite rock club in MKE - Club Garibaldi's - with some really good friends. We've put together an amazing evening of acoustic music from all ends of the spectrum, all for your personal enjoyment. Aren't we so sweet?

8pm-ish - Beguhn-Speck Project. The BSP features Adam Speck, who is an virtuoso acoustic guitarist, and Steve Beguhn, accountant by day and ROCK STAR by night, a Hollywood finalist on American Idol Season 10, and perhaps the finest voice this side of the Kinnickinnic River. Their music features really creative arrangements of modern pop and rock songs, with a side of whimsy.

9:30pm-ish - Bockenplautz. Y'all mind if we dance with your dates?

11pm - Matt "MF" Tyner. Matt is one of the finest roots/blues/country/rock acoustic artists in Milwaukee, and plays regularly as a solo artist or with his band The Carpetbaggers. He's fresh off a two week tour of the Carribbean, so he's nicely tanned, which is a bonus. Also, he just found out he's nominated for a Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) award for 2014 Male Vocalist of the Year! WOW!

I honestly don't think this show could be any better.

Plus, it's your last chance to get any Superior Acoustic Powerpop until late May!

See you there.

Red & White's Alright

So that was a fun way to spend a Friday night - great crowd at J&B's for the Tosa East Boosters 2014 benefit, had to be way over 200 people through the night. Wonderful to have a real stage to play on too. Glad we could be a part of it!

This Thursday night Jonnie is sitting in with our friend Matt "MF" Tyner as he plays a solo night at Burke's Irish Castle. Playing roughly 10 songs with Matt - doing some of that blues and roots stuff he likes to do, and nobody plays it better than Matt! 8-11pm.

Next big public band show is Saturday March 15th as we return to the depths of Waukesha to once again do a St. Patty's day show at Montecito's Ristorante. Dale the owner demanded we return, and we had to say yes. No cover charge, come on in and party with us. Should be a blast.

And finally, a reminder that we're playing at Burke's Irish Castle on Monday March 31st for Brewers Opening Day! What a cool gig! We'll be starting up as soon as the game finishes, roughly 4:30ish, and playing until about 8pm.

Come out for a show this month!

Red and White Tosa East Boosters Benefit this Friday

Only one show this month for the band in anticipation of things getting a lot busier in the next few months for us. We're excited to be playing again for the Tosa East Red & White Athletics Boosters, this time at J&B's Blue Ribbon Pub at 5230 W. Bluemound, right across from Miller Park. This is the old Long Wongs bar, and they have an awesome back room that will be rocking - including a 2-lane bowling alley!

Admission is $35 at the door, or $25 in advance at the Tosa East Boosters Website. Great raffles, live auctions, free food and beer, and of course Milwaukee's finest acoustic powerpop!

Facebook page for the event is HERE.

Future gigs to put on your calendar:

Hope to see you at a show sometime soon!

Best place MS benefit concert tomorrow night

MS sucks. It really does. I've been unfortunate enough to know several good friends that have suffered from this terrible disease, and it is life changing for all of them.

Our first gig at the Best Place was in May 2010. We were introduced to the fine people there by our friend Rob Wood who used to do some real estate business with the Best Place's manager Scotty. Scotty had to quit the real estate business because of his MS, and had recently starting manging the Best Place due to this. Scott is the nicest, warmest and friendliest person you'd ever want to meet, and he instantly asked us if we'd be interested in playing at their fine establishment sometime. We played there about a month later. That was show #4 for us. We had an awesome time, but little did we know that was the first step on a long upward road for us and for the Best Place.

We are now playing show #44 tomorrow - once again at the Best Place. For the 2nd time, we're helping Scotty out with his MS Society benefit, trying to raise a shitload of money to go towards MS research.

Please, think about stopping in and joining us tomorrow night for the Best Place's 2nd annual MS Society Benefit, even if it's just for a few minutes, to chip in for a great cause at the coolest bar in Milwaukee.

You'll be glad you did.

Thanks,

The Boys in Bockenplautz
